Hope for the Holidays

Red and gold text reads 2025 hope for the holidays, with the letter o in hope replaced by a hanging red ornament. The bold, decorative font and festive theme highlight the spirit of holiday giving on a crisp white background.

Caring friends and supporters help ensure that every resident at Wesley Manor feels the warmth of the season, especially those spending their first holidays here. Your generosity makes it possible to offer meaningful care, heartfelt connection, and personal attention that bring true comfort. It creates moments of joy and hope during a time of year that can feel tender or uncertain for many.

A Wesley Manor Love Story

Married for 65 years and lifelong Owensboro residents, Bill and Norma Roach moved to Wesley Manor on Valentine’s Day so they could stay close to each other even as their care needs changed. Today, Norma receives care in our Healthcare Center, and Bill lives just steps away in Assisted Living – a gift that allows their love story to continue in new and meaningful ways.

“It means everything that I can still see Norma every day,” Bill shared. “Because of Wesley Manor, I can visit my wife, go to chapel, and stay close to my family. That’s what keeps me going.”

Life here has brought them comfort through simple, heartfelt moments…cafeteria staff who greet them by name, activity team members who stop by with encouragement, tablemates who have become new friends, and handmade cards from local youth that brighten their days. These small touches remind residents they matter and that they are seen, valued, and surrounded by people who care.

Bill also expressed how much peace it brings to be closer to his son. “I love that I can be near my family and not feel like I’m asking too much of them,” he said. “Everyone here is so kind. It really feels like home.”

A lifelong teacher and dulcimer player, Bill continues sharing his gifts by performing in the chapel and even joining his Owensboro group during the holidays. Music, faith, and friendship fill his days with meaning and hope.

“Because of Wesley Manor, I can look forward to another day and another year,” he said with a smile. “I hope to live to 106 like my aunt!”
